FAQ

classroom drop-off protocols
1. How do the indoor air quality and ventilation work?

Mechanically speaking, the school has been zoned off into discrete sectors, with dedicated fresh air intake and energy recovery ventilators servicing the respective zones. iWave Generators have also been added to our ventilators to provide an additional layer of air filtration. As the air flows past our ventilators, positive and negative ions actively purify the air supply, killing mold, bacteria, and viruses in the coil and living space. The ionization process also reduces allergens and other particles (no more sunbeams) in the air without creating ozone or any harmful byproducts.

2. What are the policies regarding Little Ivies sharing supplies and toys?

Each child will be provided with individual materials needed in a plastic storage bin that he or she will use for all classroom activities. The sharing of supplies, food, toys, and other items will be strictly limited. Any toys that may come in contact with bodily fluids will be immediately removed and put aside until they can be properly cleaned and sanitized. Within a group of 10 sharing is permissible on a very limited basis. However, per the New Jersey Child Care Facilities Guidelines, “Sharing of supplies, food, toys, and other high touch items (art supplies, school supplies, equipment, etc.) must be strictly limited. Centers shall ensure an adequate supply of school, art, and other items to preclude the need for sharing of items.” In addition, children’s hands should be washed when moving between activities.

3. How often is handwashing enforced?

Per the NJ State Guidelines, children and staff will be required to wash their hands upon arriving at Ivy Primary Prep, after putting on indoor shoes, when entering the classroom, before meals and snacks, after meals and snacks, after outside time, after using the bathroom, when moving from one activity to another, and prior to leaving for home.

4. What are your cleaning protocols?

All high-touch surface areas such as toys, classroom furniture, doorknobs, light switches, tabletops, and restrooms will be cleaned throughout the day to ensure we meet all Department of Health standards. All classrooms will also go through a deep cleaning process at the end of each day. Per the NJ State Guidelines, all surfaces will be cleaned with a dish detergent and water solution. This solution will sit on the surface for two minutes before being wiped dry. CDC-recommended soaps and sanitizers will be used in all areas.

5. What happens if I am late and miss my drop-off time?

If you miss your drop-off time window that is specific for your child’s classroom, you must check-in at the front desk. Teachers will not permit Little Ivies directly to their classrooms outside their drop-off time window. All arrivals after 8:45am please use the main entrance for drop-offs.

6. Will Little Ivies have naptime?

Yes, with fewer students in each classroom, there is no space issue that would prevent naps.

7. What are the drop-off and pick-up procedures?

All classrooms are equipped with their own exit door. Little Ivies will be dropped off directly at the entrance of their classrooms. Drop-off times are between 8:00 a.m. – 8:30 a.m. All students that are dropped off after 8:45am must enter through the main entrance. Please ensure both you and your child are wearing masks upon arrival. According to the NJ State Guidelines, all students will be temperature checked and parents will be questioned about symptoms. Your child’s teacher will take his or her temperature with our infrared thermometer and perform a health check. After your child is cleared, he or she will come in and immediately wash their hands, change their shoes, wash their hands again, and then walk to their desk. School is dismissed at 4:00pm and aftercare is until 6:00pm.

8. Do students wear a uniform?

All preschoolers ages 2 and above wear our Ivy uniform. School uniforms will be mandatory Monday – Wednesday following dress down days on Thursdays and Fridays. Ivy Polos must be paired with a navy bottom, such as: pants, sweatpants, tights, or skirts. You can purchase our uniform polos and sweaters directly from the school’s office.

9. Do you take the students to a playground?

Weather permitting, our students go to the playground or take a walk twice a day. We have two playgrounds that are conveniently located next to our center.

10. Who is your lunch provider?

We are working with Smart Lunches; a meal catering service who will prepare the children’s breakfast, lunch, and snack off-site and deliver fresh meals to our center daily. All meals are organic and gluten free. If there are any dietary or allergy restrictions, please let us know beforehand. We are a Nut-Free school so please keep that in mind when packing any extra lunch or snacks for your child.

11. Do you offer beforecare and aftercare?

Our beforecare is from 7:30am – 8:00am and aftercare is from 4:00pm – 6:00pm.

12. Are you scheduling tours?

We can schedule an in person tour or a virtual tour based on your availability.
