Kindergarten at Ivy Primary Prep

At Ivy Primary Prep, our Kindergarten program sets the stage for academic excellence. Anchored in our proprietary Ivy Path Curriculum, we provide a structured, enriching experience that builds each child’s academic foundation while fostering confidence, curiosity, and a love of learning. Our comprehensive focus on literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies is carefully aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS).

In literacy, students engage in daily, evidence-based instruction that develops phonemic awareness, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Using guided reading groups and structured phonics lessons, our students progress steadily through Fountas & Pinnell benchmarks, with most reaching Level D/E or higher by the end of the year. Writing instruction emphasizes sentence construction, narrative writing, and opinion expression, building essential skills for elementary success.

Our math curriculum, grounded in the NJSLS and supported by Eureka Math/EngageNY, emphasizes number sense, addition and subtraction within 10, place value, measurement, and geometry. Students solve real-world problems using manipulatives, visual models, and hands-on activities, with progress monitored through i-Ready diagnostics and teacher assessments.

By the end of Kindergarten, Ivy students consistently meet and exceed New Jersey’s academic standards—reading at Level 1 or above, writing with purpose, and confidently solving grade-level math problems. Just as importantly, they’ve grown as critical thinkers and independent learners, fully prepared to thrive in first grade and beyond.

With experienced educators, small class sizes, and a nurturing yet academically rigorous environment, Ivy Primary Prep offers a Kindergarten experience where children don’t just learn—they soar.
